AutoCAD has been a widely used desktop and mobile app since its inception. At times it was the industry standard for CAD. Several other desktop and mobile CAD programs have been developed since then, including AutoCAD LT, the predecessor to AutoCAD’s mobile app and the CADDY mobile app. In recent years, mobile apps have become the predominant form of CAD for certain types of engineering work.

Since its inception, AutoCAD has been free to use and has been bundled with every licensed copy of AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT. AutoCAD is also distributed as a monthly subscription model that allows users to access AutoCAD cloud services. Since 2009, AutoCAD LT is distributed with the yearly purchase of AutoCAD software. AutoCAD LT is a version of AutoCAD built for the smaller desktop.

What is AutoCAD?

Automated Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD) is an integrated suite of tools for the drafting and design of 2D and 3D objects. Developed and marketed by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Before AutoCAD was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal.

Although several other desktop and mobile CAD programs have been developed since then, AutoCAD remains the industry standard for CAD in both the architectural and engineering industries. AutoCAD’s roots can be traced to Dymo Corporation, who sold computer-aided design software and now sells AutoCAD software as part of their Dymo product line. At times it was the industry standard for CAD, and it is one of the most used desktop and mobile apps. It remains a software application that is widely used in the engineering and architectural industries.

AutoCAD’s technology is now integrated across several Autodesk software products including AutoCAD LT, Autodesk Forge, Autodesk 360, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, and AutoCAD Architecture. Each of these Autodesk applications is stand-alone and independent of the others.

Key Features

The key features of AutoCAD are its ability to import, analyze, and model a variety of files. For example, AutoCAD is able to import and analyze (parse and analyze) Revit files and

Filters (add-ons) – Filters are AutoCAD extensions that extend drawing functionality. The list of available filters is quite long and includes:
custom filters that extend the functionality of the main drawing application
Filtering and Splitting, a feature that allows the user to process a set of lines/arcs and create as many new drawings as necessary

The main types of filters are:
pre-fabricated or pre-packaged filters
custom filters which can be created from scratch or via a visual lisp script

A large number of additional filters exist. For instance, there are quite a few basic filters that create a new drawing from an existing drawing, move objects, merge objects, and much more.

Some of the most popular plugins are:
DWGpart, an add-on that allows creating reusable parts from a DWG file
DWG to DGN, a conversion tool that allows the user to import a DWG file into a DGN file
DWGindex, which is an add-on that allows the user to convert DWG to AutoCAD’s native format, the DXF file format
Dynamic Wall, which allows the user to place objects on a rectangular base by using dynamic tools

In addition to filters, AutoCAD has an add-on installer system. Each add-on, whether a pre-fabricated filter or a custom add-on, comes in the form of an installer. The installer package is typically in an EXE file that is placed in a folder on the hard drive (in some cases, the installer may be in a DLL file instead of an EXE file).

The AutoCAD user interface consists of various toolbars, palettes and dialog boxes. Any or all of these can be customized for a particular user.

Categories

There are several categories into which objects can be placed:

Objects – anything drawn on the screen (not necessarily added via the drawing)
Geometry – drawing objects such as lines, arcs, polylines, splines, arcs, etc.
Dimensioning – places on the screen to define distances and angles, e.g. a dimension line, a dimension box, or a dimension arrow
Dimension labels – drawings created for dimensioning are known as dimension labels
Data management – any data that is used to define the dimensioning
Model management – anything that refers to the model and is used for parametric work

Polyamides are a class of high performance engineering thermoplastics. Polyamide resin compositions are commonly used to form molded parts of automotive components and other parts that are subject to severe mechanical and environmental stress. During the formation of the part, a polymerization reaction occurs as polyamide monomers are converted to polyamide oligomers which is catalyzed by a catalytic material. In the presence of moisture and thermal stress, the polyamide oligomers may degrade and release volatile byproducts which may cause surface defects in the molded part. If the degradation occurs during processing, the surface defects may be found as a result of the visual inspection of the molded part.
Various methods have been described for minimizing defects due to volatile degradation byproducts, such as polyamide degradation reaction byproducts. For example, the use of reduced levels of catalytic materials or the use of a catalyst-free polyamide resin composition.
Others have suggested the use of a heat-activated catalyst to initiate the reaction, such as described in U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,318,954 and 5,459,254 to Morimoto et al. and U.S. Pat. No. 5,994,516 to Koenig. However, the use of a heat-activated catalyst may present manufacturing issues with respect to the part forming process. For example, the heat-activated catalyst may not completely activate the resin composition at the elevated temperature used for the forming process. In addition, the heat-activated catalyst may decompose at a rate which is not sufficiently fast to control the reaction kinetics and produce defect free parts.

Implementing filtering with flatList doesn’t work

I’m trying to use the flatList component of react native with filtering but for some reason I can’t get it to work. When I enter the inputs and click search, the list of people doesn’t change.
I tried changing the filtering method to the one used in react native’s filter component (Array.prototype.filter) but that didn’t work either.

AutoCAD Command-Line Interface:

The AutoCAD Command-Line Interface (CLI) allows you to write or execute programs without using a mouse or the ribbon and work with AutoCAD from the command line.

You can edit all of your drawing files and parameters from the command line without leaving the program.

For drawings created with AutoLISP or the AutoCAD Design Center, you can edit all of your drawing files and parameters from the command line without leaving the program.

CLI command lines are not visible in the drawing area.

Command-line shortcuts make creating and editing drawings easier.

Drawing Zoom:

You can quickly zoom to different magnification levels when you are working with large drawings using the Zoom viewport. (Note: the Zoom viewport is not available in PDF import or export.)

Tool Size and New Document Settings:

You can now adjust the Tool Size and New Document Options. Use the Zoom tool to select the amount of detail that you want to see in your drawings.

The Paper Orientation setting of the Window and Palettes allows you to work with drawings in portrait or landscape orientation.

A new border option for the New Document and Save As dialog boxes lets you choose a color for the new document or when you save the file.

When you save a drawing file, you can choose to add a unique name to the drawing, including the name of the company or organization that the drawing belongs to.

New Tabbed Document and Printing Settings:

You can customize the tabbed document view and printing settings when you create a new drawing or open an existing one.
