we initially tested with the uefi settings utilised in turbo mode and then switched to the « normal » control for the purposes of comparison. we came to the conclusion that the turbo setting was no longer functional due to the recent update, so as a final test we enabled the « turbo » mode option again.
we have seen a huge jump in maximum temperature values, which we think is attributed to the combination of the new latest mainstream intel cpus. in fact the maximum temperature is comparable with the previous generation core i5-6600k with a core i5-7600k.
this is good to see because the increase in performance should be worth the jump in temperature. in fact we have seen an increase in temperatures as we’ve increased load. we have noticed a huge increase in temperature when using synthetic benchmarks as well as multi-tasking. it should be noted that the system uses dynamic frequency scaling (dfs) which is something we will cover in the igpu section of this review. even with the lower frequencies, the increase in temp is still within the normal operating limits of the processor.
