Bash script not terminating and waiting for input
I have a bash script which should start and end by its own. For example:
./start.sh &&./end.sh
The problem is that I must input a password before starting the script:
./start.sh
And then input the password again before the script finishes:
./end.sh
I need to input the password once only, this must be done with read.
I tried with read -s and read -p but none of them seems to work. Any idea?

You can use this:
read -s -p « Password: » pwd
[ -z $pwd ] && echo « Password needed » && exit 1
rm -f /tmp/cwd
echo $pwd > /tmp/cwd
The first part sets a file for you to type your password into. The read command is used to read it, leaving an empty line on the next line. The [ -z $pwd ] &&…. part checks to see if that file exists, and if it doesn’t it redirects to the second
